BEBE’s Mother
Dr. Jill Diana Chasse began developing the Baby-Empowered Birthing Education (BEBE) method in the mid 90’s while volunteering in labor and delivery at Mountainside Hospital and working with mothers at local La Leche League meetings. Jill had a love of maternal-child health from a very young age and found it disheartening that many of the birthing classes she audited had very little concern for the baby or the mother-baby dyad. In 1996, Jill became a Certified Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist by the International Association for Counselors and Therapists (IACT) for birth counseling and hypnosis for childbirth. She began working with mothers addressing the magic of love, connection, and early attachment shared between a mother and the baby in her womb. She utilized relaxations and visualizations to help both the mother and the prenate prepare for birth. She went on to receive certification as a Birth Assistant, trained as a birth doula with CAPPA, and studied midwifery at both Ancient Arts Midwifery Institute and Institute of Holistic Midwifery.
In 2000, Jill became a member of the Association for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health and eventually led the Communications and Development Committee as co-chair as well as an APPPAH mentor. She is also a member of the Childbirth & Postpartum Professional Association, American Public Health Association – Maternal and Child Health section, Society for Pediatric and Perinatal Epidemiologic Research and the American Psychological Association. She is the founder/moderator of the Perinatal Psychology group an outreach project of BEPE-East, with professional members and leaders in the field from all over the world. Dr. Chasse has conducted lectures, led discussions, published numerous articles, and written several books, including Womb Wonders and Baby Magic which has sold in 8 countries.
Dr. Chasse, who holds a Master’s Degree of Science in Psychology, a Master’s Degree of Public Administration, and a PhD in Health Administration, is currently a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) candidate.
This training as well as her advanced education in midwifery, grief and loss, maternal child health (MCH) epidemiology, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, child development and pre and perinatal mental health and wellness has helped her to intertwine the physiological and psychological aspects of the mother-baby dyad into the BEBE method for over 15 years with remarkable results.
